Moses Kuria Abandons Jubilee, Backs ODM in Kibra By-Election

September 2, 2019, marked a significant shift in the Kibra by-election as Mbunge Moses Kuria announced his decision to abandon Jubilee and support ODM.

Despite Jubilee having a candidate in the by-election, Kuria chose to back Benson Musungu, the ODM candidate, citing the need to honor the legacy of the late Ken Okoth, who was born in Kibra and had a strong desire to uplift the people of Kibra.

"Shida ya eneo bunge la Kibra na siasa za utalii. Aliyekuwa rafiki yangu Ken Okoth alizaliwa Kibra na hivyo alikuwa na ari ya kuinua watu wa Kibra," Kuria said in a statement.

With this move, Kuria has joined the growing list of politicians who are willing to cross party lines and support candidates from other parties, a trend that has been fueled by the recent handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

As the Kibra by-election heats up, it remains to be seen how this move will impact the outcome of the election and the future of politics in Kibra.
