On September 2, 2019, Labour Court Judge Hellen Wasilwa issued an order that temporarily reinstated Wilson Sossion as the secretary general of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), pending the outcome of a case he had filed contesting his ouster.
The order, which was issued on the same day, directed that the operations of the union should not be unnecessarily affected pending determination of the suit.
According to the court order, Sossion was allowed to access Knut bank accounts to ensure the smooth running of the union's activities.
The reinstatement of Sossion comes after a warring faction within Knut sought to have him stopped from conducting union activities.
However, Sossion's replacement, Hesbon Otieno, has filed a case seeking to have Sossion remain sacked, citing his unbecoming behaviour as the reason for his removal.
