McDonald Mariga has been picked by Jubilee party as their candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-elections.
This development may force ODM to reconsider their strategy in the election, with many calling for Benson Musungu to be given a direct nomination to duel with Mariga and other candidates.
With ODM nominations slotted for Saturday, September 7th, the outcome of the nomination will determine whether Musungu will face off against Mariga in the by-elections.
Major parties participating in the election are counting on the majority Luhyia votes in Kibra, which is believed to stand at 38,000.
However, ANC supporters have vowed to vote for Owalo to strengthen Mudavadi's standing as a national leader, while DP William Ruto is rumored to have been behind Ugenya's David Ochieng's election and Embakasi's Mawathe's win.
It remains to be seen if ODM will listen to people's suggestions or stick to its guns and lose the by-election, which could be the third time it has lost a byelection since 2017.
