On September 2, 2019, detectives arrested Zachary Mwangi Kariuki, a suspected fraudster, for absconding court for five months.
Mr. Mwangi appeared before Kibera Senior Resident Magistrate Faith Mutuku, who had issued a warrant of arrest against him.
He was accused of obtaining Sh1.9 million from Mr. Pankaj Patel, the director of Kenson and Company Limited, under the pretext of selling him a car in 2012.
Mr. Mwangi claimed to have been sick and admitted to a Limuru hospital since April, but the court was not convinced.
After failing to convince the court, the suspect was remanded until September 18, when the case will be mentioned.
