On September 2, 2019, a Nairobi court reinstated Wilson Sossion as Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, days after he was ousted from the union.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court directed that Sossion be reinstated pending a hearing and determination of a case in which he opposed his removal from office.

Additionally, Sossion was allowed to access KNUT bank accounts.

According to the judgement, the court ordered that the status quo of the KNUT register of officials obtaining prior to August 29, 2019, be maintained with regard to the operations of the KNUT Bank Accounts at Kenya Commercial Bank, Equity Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank pending further orders of the Court.

Wilson Sossion was removed from office last week in a notice from the Registrar of Trade Unions, citing 'anomalies' in his leadership.

KNUT Chairman Wycliffe Omucheyi stated that the National Executive Council had agreed to replace Sossion due to his failure to work with the steering committee.

It is worth noting that Sossion was also suspended in 2018 for ignoring a directive to respond to allegations of gross misconduct and show-cause-why.
