On September 2, 2019, a passenger aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Kisumu to Nairobi tweeted that the flight had been diverted to Mombasa due to bad weather.
The flight, KQ 7.35am, had initially planned to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi but was forced to wait for 30 minutes in Mombasa for the fog to clear.
Kenya Airways later confirmed the flight disruption, attributing it to the foggy conditions at JKIA.
"We would like to inform our valued customers of a disruption to our flight operations this morning from 7am – 9:30am. This was due the foggy conditions that surrounded JKIA," the airline said in a statement.
As a result, several flights were diverted from JKIA to Mombasa, causing delays and disruptions to scheduled flights.
