Published on September 2, 2019, Manchester United's record signing Harry Maguire has called on his teammates to rediscover their swagger and control games after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Southampton.

United winger Daniel James' brilliant first-half goal was cancelled out by a Jannik Vestergaard header after the interval, leaving the visitors on five points from four games.

Maguire, who arrived at Old Trafford from Leicester City at the start of the season, emphasized the need for his team to improve their ball control and show confidence on the pitch.

'We are playing attacking football but don't get me wrong, we can still improve a lot, especially on the ball,' Maguire said. 'We were giving it away sloppy, and we need to improve on that and show arrogance on the ball and be confident on the ball.'

Maguire added that United must take their opportunities in front of goal if they are to keep up with their top-four rivals.

Despite recording 21 attempts on goal and pushing for a winner in the closing stages, United were unable to secure all three points after Southampton were reduced to 10 men following Kevin Danso's red card.
