Pope Francis, the 82-year-old head of the Catholic Church, faced an unexpected delay on Sunday when he became trapped in his personal lift at the Apostolic Palace.
The incident occurred as the Pope was on his way to his Sunday service, forcing him to run 10 minutes late.
According to The Telegraph, the Pope apologized to the crowd for his tardiness, explaining that he had been stuck in the lift for 25 minutes due to an electrical fault.
He then expressed his gratitude to the Vatican firefighters who rescued him, saying, 'Thank goodness, the firefighters arrived, and I thank them so much, and after 25 minutes of work they managed to get it started again.'
Italian TV networks had initially speculated that the delay might be due to health reasons, but the Pope's explanation put those concerns to rest.
