Four Tourists Confirmed Dead in Hell's Gate Flash Floods Tragedy

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, a devastating flash flood struck Hell's Gate National Park in Naivasha, claiming the lives of four tourists.

The incident occurred at around 4pm when seven local tourists, including a tour guide, were on an excursion at the park. The group was caught off guard by the sudden floodwaters.

Two bodies were recovered immediately after the incident, while two more were found during the search operation that followed. A search is ongoing for the three missing tourists.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the search and rescue operation for the missing tourists is underway. The KWS also confirmed that two more bodies were recovered overnight, bringing the total number of fatalities to four.

“Search and rescue operation for three missing tourists underway in Hell’s Gate National Park. Two more bodies were recovered overnight, bringing the total number of the dead from the tragic flash floods to four people,” said KWS.
