Deputy President William Ruto has taken issue with the Standard newspaper over a report that President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered photos of himself with Nandi Governor Stephen Sang deleted.
According to the report, President Kenyatta's bodyguards were seen warning photographers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to delete the images, citing that they were not authorized to be taken.
DP Ruto responded to the report on his Twitter handle, terming it 'gutter journalism' and stating that Jubilee is built on rock solid philosophy and beliefs that no amount of scheming and propaganda can undermine.
He further stated that Kenyans can see through the Standard's desperate lies of drama.
It is reported that President Kenyatta had been received by his deputy, Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, military service commanders, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang at JKIA last Thursday morning.
However, the President's aide de camp allegedly ordered the deletion of the photos, citing that they were not authorized to be taken.
DP Ruto's reaction comes as President Kenyatta is said to have adopted a new policy of not being seen in public with suspected criminals, with Governor Sang being a well-known ally of the DP.
