On September 2, 2019, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) conducted a significant operation in Kajiado County, destroying illicit brew worth over Ksh 1.5 billion.
The taxman claimed that if they had failed to seize the goods from Nairobi traders, they could have lost more than Ksh 400 million.
The destruction process was conducted on grounds of discouraging counterfeit goods, counter branding, and illicit trading.
Other government institutions that joined the KRA in the destruction exercise at Stony in Athi River included the Anti-Counterfeit Agency.
Additionally, the taxman managed to destroy machines used in the production of counterfeit goods like cigarettes and exercise stamps.
