On September 2, 2019, a two-hour strike by ground staff at Dutch national carrier KLM led to the cancellation of 10 European flights.
The strike, which took place between 8:00 am and 10:00 am (6:00 am to 8:00 am GMT), was called by the Dutch union federation FNV in a dispute over wages.
"KLM have preventively decided to annul 10 European flights because of the strike," said Manel Vrijenhoek, a KLM spokeswoman.
Other airlines, including Air France, Delta, and Transavia, were also affected by the strike, which was part of a broader labor dispute between KLM and the FNV.
The FNV was demanding a four percent increase in wages for its 15,000 members, but KLM's latest offer was only two percent.
"It's no good. Therefore we are calling a work stoppage," said Joost van Doesburg, the FNV campaign leader.
