On September 2, 2019, Botswana named a 23-man squad under new coach Adel Amrouche for their World Cup qualifying tie against Malawi. The team includes seven foreign-based players.

Among the foreign-based players is Mpho Kgswane, who recently moved to Azerbaijan from South Africa's Baroka FC. Kabelo Seakanyeng, who had a brief stint in South Africa's Premier Soccer League with Chippa United, is also part of the squad.
