Kenya News: Wilson Sossion Ousted from Office Amidst Other Shocking Stories

As the week comes to a close, TUKO.co.ke brings you a summary of the top stories that made headlines in Kenya this week.

On Monday, August 29, police were forced to use tear gas to disperse KNUT officials who had barricaded themselves inside the union's headquarters in Nairobi. The standoff was sparked by the ousting of KNUT secretary-general Wilson Sossion from office after his name was removed from the list of teachers by the Teachers Service Commission.

Four people were arrested and charged in connection with the rabasha that were hurled at the KNUT headquarters during the standoff.

Meanwhile, a pastor in Nairobi sparked outrage after threatening to castrate men who disrespect him. In a video that went viral, the pastor was seen warning men who attend his church to respect him or face the consequences.

Willy Paul and Nandy's Malindi festival performance was also a highlight of the week. The two musicians were seen performing at the festival, with Nandy even getting up close and personal with Willy Paul.

However, the week was not without controversy. Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board, banned the popular song by Wamlambez and Wamnyonyez. The song, which was released by the group Sailors, had become a hit among young people.

Finally, Gor Mahia FC terminated the contract of Dennis Oliech after he was accused of getting involved in politics. Oliech had signed a two-year contract with the club in January 2019, but was let go after the club's management felt he had brought the team into disrepute.
