Xiaomi Mi A3: Still No Kenyan Availability Despite Nigeria Launch ¶
Launched in mid-July 2019, the Xiaomi Mi A3 has started selling in several markets, including Europe, Asia, and most recently, Nigeria. However, there are still no signs of the device’s availability in Kenya.
Although Avechi Kenya has the device in stock, going for Kshs 25,000 for the base model of 4/64GB, Xiaomi Kenya hasn’t started selling the Mi A3 around here. It’s only them that can declare the device official in Kenya.
Ahead of last month’s opening of the Mi Store in Nairobi’s CBD, Xiaomi Kenya gave the impression that the Mi A3 was on the way into the country. The device was put up for pre-order alongside the Mi TV, but as we all know, this never materialized.
Published on September 1, 2019, Xiaomi Kenya later revealed that the Mi TV 4X Pro will be coming in the country soon, but this hasn’t been the case for the Mi A3, which is causing concern among fans.
When asked about the availability of the Mi A3, Xiaomi Kenya’s Twitter handler claimed the Mi A2 successor would be here before the end of the month, yet here we are. As I write this, we don’t have word on when this device will be made available locally, so we wait.
Interestingly, the Mi A3 is going for ₦71,900 for the base model while the 128GB storage option is priced at ₦79,900 in Nigeria. When converted, these figures are roughly equivalent to Kshs 20,500 and Kshs 23,000, respectively.
