Published on September 1, 2019, Oppo has released a new software update for the Oppo F1, a device that first hit the market in January 2016. This update is a rare occurrence for a device of its age, which typically would no longer receive software support from the company.
The Oppo F1 initially ran on ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, it received a Marshmallow update via Oppo's Project Spectrum, which brought AOSP Android to the device. Unfortunately, we cannot verify whether the latest update is based on Marshmallow or Lollipop.
Although Oppo has provided a brief changelog for the update, which can be downloaded and installed manually, we still hope that the F1 will receive this update over the air, especially for devices that are not unlocked or rooted.
According to Oppo, the new update, version F1EX_11_A.24, improves compatibility with third-party apps, but the company does not provide further details.
