Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga's list of nominees for the county public service board has been rejected by the MCAs, who cited lack of regional balance and questioned the entire interview process.

The move comes after a report from the assembly's appointment committee revealed numerous gaps in the process, including a lack of youth and persons with disability representation.

According to the committee report, the age profiles of the nominees ranged from 54 years to 78 years, with none of the nominees fitting the description of persons with disability.

MCAs also expressed concerns over the over-representation of Alego Usonga sub-county in key county positions, with one nominee being 78 years old and another being accused of not being from the area they represented.

Central Alego MCA Leonard Oriaro accused Rasanga of appointing nominees who did not even apply for the positions, saying, "Why should you subject people to interviews and then reject them and appoint people who did not feature in the interview?"

The list of rejected nominees includes Hezbon Olum (Bondo), Dr Elijah Aluoch (Alego Usonga), Consolata Onguto (Ugenya), Joan Odawa (Rarieda), Anne Ludenya (Ugenya), and Dr Margret Oloo (Ugunja).
