On Friday, a tragic incident shook a family in Bomet County, Kenya, when a 28-year-old man, Peter Langat, allegedly hacked his two sons to death following a heated argument with his wife over maize flour.
According to Konoin OCPD Alex Shikondi, the suspect had demanded 4 kilograms of maize from his wife, threatening to kill her and their children if his demand was not met.
The wife, a teacher at Siomo Primary School, had allegedly failed to provide for the family, leading to the suspect's anger.
As the situation escalated, the wife and their two children, aged six and four, sought refuge in the home of the suspect's brother, Daniel Langat.
However, the suspect arrived at his brother's home at around 10 pm, armed with a machete, and attacked the minors, leaving them dead at Cheptalal Sub-County hospital.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Nyandarua County, a 32-year-old father, a boda-boda rider from Mirangine, slashed his two sons to death before committing suicide following a domestic dispute.
Confirming the incident, Mirangine Sub-County Police Commander Eric Otieno said officers found a blood-stained machete used by the suspect to attack the two boys.
