On August 31, 2019, Senator Elisha Odhiambo claimed that Raila Odinga had instructed Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha to remove KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion.
According to Senator Odhiambo, Raila's intention was to replace Sossion with a Luo to take over the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).
