Prof. Barasa Wangila, the founder Vice Chancellor of Masinde Muliro University, has passed away. He was 67 years old.

According to sources, Prof. Wangila died on an unspecified date while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu County.

Prof. Kubasu Kwashe Mwene, the Secretary General of UASU MMUST Chapter, released a statement expressing shock and sadness at the news of Prof. Wangila's passing.

"We have received with shock the sad news of the passing on of Prof Barasa Wangila, who has been sick at the Aga Khan hospital, Kisumu," said Prof. Mwene.

Prof. Mwene also extended condolences to Prof. Wangila's family, relatives, and friends on behalf of the Universities' Academic Staff Union, UASU MMUST Chapter.

Prof. Wangila's death is a significant loss to the academic community, and he will be remembered for his contributions to the establishment of UASU MMUST Chapter.
