On August 31, 2019, a significant development took place in Sudan as a court charged ousted president Omar al-Bashir with illegal acquisition and use of foreign funds.

According to the court, authorities seized a substantial amount of money from Bashir's home, including 6.9 million euros, $351,770, and 5.7 million Sudanese pounds, which he allegedly acquired and used illegally.

As reported by AFP, judge Al-Sadiq Abdelrahman stated that the seized funds were used in a manner that contravened the law.
