McDonald Mariga and 15 Others to Vie for Jubilee Ticket in Kibra

McDonald Mariga, a Kenyan footballer, has been listed among 16 candidates vying for the Jubilee Party ticket in the Kibra constituency. The list was announced by the National Elections Board (NEB) on August 30, 2019.

The candidates include Morris Kinyanjui, Walter Trenk, Ibrahim Said, Doreen Wasike, Oscar Kambona, Bukachi Chapia, Jane Githaiga, Jack Owino, Omondi Rajab, Daniel Adem, Daniel Orogo, Ramadhan Hussein, Frank Amollo, Timothy Kaimenyi, and Geoffrey Mwangi.

According to reports, Ruto's camp had advised Mariga to vie for the seat, citing the large number of Luhya community members in the Kibra constituency.

The winner of the Jubilee ticket will face off against candidates from other political parties, including the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Amani National Congress (ANC).

NEB announced that Mariga will meet with the other 15 candidates on September 2, 2019, to select the party's candidate for the Kibra by-election.

"As of 5:30 pm on Friday, we had received a list of 16 candidates. We are now proceeding with one-on-one interviews with them," said Andrew Musangi, the chairman of NEB.
