On August 31, 2019, Nigerian hitmaker Timaya opened up to his fans about his journey to the top of the music industry.

Speaking candidly about his early life, Timaya revealed that he was once a plantain seller, a humble beginning that few would have predicted for someone who would eventually become one of Africa's most successful artists.

'Your background should not stop you from achieving your desires,' Timaya advised his fans, emphasizing the importance of believing in oneself.

He shared his own story of perseverance, urging youth to pursue their dreams and not let their circumstances define their potential.

'I want to say here that everyone can be successful if someone like me who used to be a plantain seller can be successful, then why not everybody?' Timaya said, highlighting the power of determination and hard work.

Timaya also emphasized the need for young people to believe in themselves, saying, 'The youths need to believe in themselves because if they don’t, who will believe them. I want to advice youths to make money before friends.'

Before performing, Timaya thanked his fans for their support over the years, expressing his gratitude for their role in his success.

Today, Timaya is a household name in Africa, with a string of hit songs and a massive following.
