On August 9th, 2019, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) auctioned off 15 abandoned planes, including a Phoenix aircraft identified as a Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain.

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua, alias Jaguar, purchased this aircraft for Sh120,000 and has since shared photos of the plane being refurbished on social media.

The plane, with registration 5H-SKT, was among the 15 abandoned planes auctioned off by KAA to recover unpaid parking fees.

According to KAA, the owners of the planes had abandoned them at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, and the agency was selling them to cover the costs of unpaid parking fees.

The plane's reserve price was Sh120,000, and it is currently undergoing rehabilitation, including repainting.
