On August 31, 2019, a brazen gang in Nairobi was caught on CCTV cameras breaking into a car belonging to a man who had just withdrawn cash from a NIC Bank branch in the city.

The car's owner, Athanus Muema, had withdrawn Sh250,000 to buy construction materials in Nairobi's industrial area.

However, Muema was unaware that he was being trailed by criminals, who had been monitoring his movements.

CCTV footage showed a second car following Muema's car, and a woman was seen following him to a business premise on Enterprise Road.

After Muema entered the shop, an occupant of the second car broke into his vehicle from the driver's side and stole Sh150,000 that he had left behind.

A guard at the gate reported that the suspects told him they were with Muema, according to Nairobi News.

Muema later reported the incident at Industrial Area Police Station.
