On August 27, 2019, a fatal road accident occurred in Kaloleni, Kilifi County, when a 35-year-old man was knocked down by a car driven by Davies Mwabili, a popular Kenyan actor known as Inspekta Mwala.
According to reports, Mwala was driving his car from Kaloleni to Mazeras when the accident occurred.
Speaking to the press, Mwala expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and apologized for the tragic incident.
"I am deeply sorry for what happened. I would have joined the Al-Shabaab group if I had intended to kill someone. Let us reflect on the fact that some of our friends are dying of hunger, and the way this incident was reported is not how we should be addressing it," Mwala said.
Patrick Okeri, the Kilifi County Police Commander, confirmed that Mwala was arrested and released on a KSh 40,000 bond.
The police commander also stated that Mwala's car was impounded at the Kaloleni Police Station.
