On August 30, 2019, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a warrant for the arrest of Joe Mwangi, the manager of Wendi Waeni, on allegations of forgery.

According to a statement on the DCI's Twitter account, Mwangi allegedly forged documents and used them to defraud Wendi Waeni's mother.

Wendi Waeni, a high school student, had accused Mwangi of misusing her funds, which she had earned from performing at various events.

During an interview with Citizen TV, Waeni revealed that she had been struggling to provide for her family, despite receiving payments for her performances.

However, Mwangi denied the allegations, claiming that Waeni's mother was the one who had misused the funds.

The DCI has asked anyone with information about Mwangi's whereabouts to report to their offices in Nairobi.
