On August 29, 2019, a fuel tanker veered off the road at Makindu on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, narrowly escaping death for several families.

According to eyewitnesses, the tanker skidded and hit a wall in a residential area, causing significant damage to several houses and shops.

When Citizen Digital arrived at the scene, a crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the bizarre accident.

The truck driver claimed that the steering wheel locked as he was overtaking another vehicle, causing him to lose control.

The area chief confirmed that the truck was headed to Nairobi from Makindu when the accident occurred.
