On August 30, 2019, Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that he cherishes the rivalry between him and Lionel Messi, which has dominated the football world for over a decade.

Speaking at the UEFA award ceremony in Monaco, Ronaldo expressed his admiration for the Argentine's skills and acknowledged the significance of their rivalry.

Although they were both beaten for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award by Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk, Ronaldo stated that he hopes to have a dinner with Messi in the future.
