On 30 August 2019, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was bestowed with a special honour by Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana, who named her 'Dhiramo Kenyatta', a title given to a girl born during the drought season in the Pokomo community.
The naming ceremony took place at the Hola Referral Hospital, where the First Lady had opened a 60-bed maternal and neonatal unit.
According to Governor Godhana, the First Lady's love for the people of Tana River earned her the title, which is a great honour for the county.
First Lady Kenyatta's visit to the hospital was not her first; she had previously laid the foundation for the maternity wing in 2016 and returned three years later to launch it.
During her visit, she also donated a container with equipment worth Sh40 million, which included medical equipment, lab facilities, ultrasound machines, and diagnostic equipment to boost patient safety and ensure patients receive treatment easily.
