Kenyan Premier League Season Kicks Off with Thrilling Matches

The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season is set to kick off on Friday, August 30, with a thrilling lineup of matches.

On the first day of the season, Sofapaka will host Posta Rangers at Narok County stadium, while Kariobangi Sharks will face off against Western Stima at Machakos County stadium.

According to Sofapaka head coach Da Silva Alves, the team is feeling optimistic about their chances, having recently unveiled 11 new players.

Interestingly, Sofapaka has a strong record against Posta Rangers, having won their last three matches against the team, including a 1-0 win on August 29, 2018, and a similar scoreline on January 23, 2019.

The last encounter between the two sides was in May this year, where Sofapaka narrowly won 3-2.

Here's the schedule for the first weekend of the KPL season:

  • Sofapaka vs Posta Rangers – Narok Stadium – 3 PM
  • Kariobangi Sharks vs Western Stima – Machakos – 3 PM

On Saturday, August 31, the following matches are scheduled:

  • Mathare United vs Bandari – Ruaraka – 3 PM
  • Sony Sugar FC vs KCB FC – Awendo – 3 PM
  • Wazito FC vs Nzoia Sugar FC – Machakos – 1 PM
  • Kisumu AllStars vs Ulinzi Stars – Kisumu – 2 PM
  • Gor Mahia vs Tusker FC – Kisumu – 4:15 PM

And on Sunday, September 1, the following matches are scheduled:

  • Kakamega Homeboyz vs AFC Leopards – Bukhungu – 3 PM
  • Zoo FC vs Chemelil Sugar FC – Kericho – 3 PM
