On August 30, 2019, Mombasa County Speaker Harub Khatri sued ex Coast Coordinator Nelson Marwa for defamation, alleging that Marwa's remarks had damaged his reputation and made him lose two lovers.

Khatri claimed that Marwa's statements, captured on videotape, had denied him the opportunity to quit bachelorhood, as no woman wanted to associate with him due to the negative things said about him online.

He alleged that Marwa had linked him to narcotics and illegal gun possession, and even claimed that he was wanted by Interpol.

The videos, taken on January 17, 2017, at Marwa's office, were admitted as key evidence in the suit against Marwa, despite his petition to have them expunged.

Judge Dora Chepkwony ruled that the videos would be considered as evidence because they were produced by the aggrieved party, and dismissed Marwa's petition.
