On August 30, 2019, the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) and Association of Public Relations and Communications Management firms (APReCoM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the development of the Public Relations industry in Kenya.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Wilfred Marube, PRSK president, and Mr. Okoth Obado, APReCoM Chairman and Redhouse Public Relations managing director.
Under the three-year partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on joint advocacy campaigns, support the passage of the pending Kenya Institute of Public Relations and Communication management Bill, and enforce the code of conduct for members.
They will also jointly support the implementation of activities and trainings that earn PRSK members continuous professional development (CPD) points and market PRSK activities and programs.
Dr. Marube commented on the partnership, saying, 'This partnership seeks to identify, explore, and collaborate in activities and programs that will benefit the development and support of the Public Relations and Communication Industry.'
Mr. Obado added, 'The signing of the MoU signifies intended collaboration to enhance professional capacity building in terms of exchange opportunities and ensure the continuing standardization of the industry best practice.'
