Published on August 30, 2019, Nairobi — Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to sell Victor Wanyama to Brugge for a reported Sh1.6 billion, marking a return to Belgium for the Harambee Stars skipper.
Wanyama, who has not played for Spurs this season, will travel to Brugge on Friday to finalize the move, which includes a medical and signing of the contract.
The midfielder had received several offers, including from France, Turkey, and Italy, but was reportedly lured to Brugge by their ambition to do well in the Champions League.
Spurs are set to recoup the same amount they bought Wanyama for in 2016, when he followed Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton to the North London club.
Wanyama returns to Belgium, where he started his football career with Germinal Beerschot from 2008 to 2011, and played alongside current Brugge head coach Philippe Clement.
