The Kenyan Premier League 2019/20 season kicked off on Friday, August 30, 2019, with nine matches scheduled across the country. However, the league is facing a major challenge due to the lack of sponsors after title sponsor Sportpesa pulled out following their ban by the Kenyan government.

Despite this setback, the matches went ahead as scheduled, with Sofapaka taking on Posta Rangers at Narok Stadium at 3 PM, and Kariobangi Sharks facing off against Wazito at the same venue.
