On Wednesday evening, a police officer was tragically killed by a poisoned arrow in the Kosovo village, located at the border of Naivasha and Narok counties.
According to Naivasha Sub-county Commissioner Mbogo Mathioya, the officer was hit in the stomach with the poisoned arrow and his body was found a kilometre away from the scene of the attack.
The incident occurred while the officer, along with a manager at the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) and his staff, were visiting the land that has been at the centre of a long-standing dispute.
The dispute revolves around 2,000 acres of land that were sold to some pastoralists by ADC, but a splinter group has encroached on the parcel, claiming that it belongs to their ancestors.
Following the incident, armed police officers were dispatched to the area, which has in the last two years recorded clashes that have left more than 10 people dead and scores injured.
Naivasha Sub-county Commissioner Mbogo Mathioya stated that it was a matter of time before they caught up with the killers, and that the area had for years recorded bloody clashes over the ownership of the land.
Area MCA Gathariki Kamanu also expressed concern over the latest murder involving the police officer, stating that tension was high in the area.
