The 2018/2019 Kenyan Premier League season has finally begun, and with it, the question on everyone's mind: can anyone stop Gor Mahia's dominance?

Despite losing three key players, including captain Harun Shakava, Francis Kahata, and Jacques Tuyisenge, as well as head coach Hassan Oktay, Gor Mahia is already plotting their fourth consecutive title win.

Their recent 5-1 thrashing of Burundian side Aigle Noir in the Champions League return leg tie at Kasarani sent a signal to their rivals that they have no intentions of relinquishing the trophy.

Under the guidance of new coach Steve Pollack, Gor Mahia has made some impressive signings, including Tanzanian duo Dickson Ambundo and David Mapigano, and combative midfielder Tobias Otieno.

These new additions have given the team a boost of confidence ahead of the new campaign, and they look to be developing a strong team for the future.

As the season gets underway, it will be interesting to see how other teams, including AFC Leopards, Bandari, Sofapaka, Tusker, and KPL returnees Wazito, will fare against Gor Mahia's might.

With their resources, Wazito has been tipped as one of the title contenders, but it remains to be seen if they can live up to the hype.

As the league kicks off, one thing is certain: Gor Mahia is a team to beat, and their rivals will have to bring their A-game if they hope to stop them.

"I'm a man on a mission and that's why I'm not feeling any pressure. Pressure is for tyres and not me. I've been in the game for a while and I'm capable of doing the job. I'm not here on holiday but to defend the league and win more trophies with Gor Mahia," said Pollack.

"Of course, I'm very optimistic I will achieve a lot with this young squad. I don't look at people's passports but what they can deliver on the pitch," he added.
