On August 27, 2019, a tragic accident occurred at Mazeras in Kilifi County, resulting in the death of Ishmael Yaa, a pedestrian who was hit by Inspekta Mwala's vehicle.
According to Kilifi County police boss Patrick Okeri, the incident happened on Monday night, and Yaa died on the spot.
The father of the late Ishmael Yaa, Alex Mangi Yaa, has spoken out for the first time, expressing his outrage and disappointment at Inspekta Mwala's lack of communication with the family since the accident.
"We are now looking for a lawyer to represent us in court. Sadly, Mwala is yet to communicate with us despite killing our son, who has left behind a young wife and a child,"
Yaa's father stated, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability in the case.
Inspekta Mwala was reportedly heading to Mombasa from a funeral when the accident occurred. Police arrived in time to save him from a mob that wanted to attack him.
"I have nothing to say. Police knows what happened,"
Inspekta Mwala told The Star on phone while declining to comment further on the incident.
It is alleged that Mwala was intoxicated at the time of the accident, but this has not been confirmed by police.
The body of the deceased was taken from Coast General Hospital, and the wreckage of the car was towed to Rabai Police Station.
Inspekta Mwala is set to appear in court tomorrow, and the case is expected to attract widespread attention.
