On August 28, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, the estranged wife of missing Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, in connection with his disappearance.

According to sources, Kamotho was detained at Muthaiga Police Station after being questioned for several hours. Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti stated that they are treating Wairimu as a prime suspect in the disappearance of Cohen.

‘She is the prime suspect and that is why she was arrested. We suspect he may have been killed and that is why we want to seek more time from the court to continue detaining her until the investigation is completed,’ said Kinoti.

The investigation into Cohen's disappearance may be extended to The Netherlands, where he is a former CEO of Dutch conglomerate Philips East Africa. Cohen had lived in Kenya for many years and was last seen on July 19, 2019, when he was reportedly picked up by a white car from his Kitisiru home.

Before his disappearance, Cohen had filed a divorce case and assault charges against Kamotho, who he had been married to for 12 years. Investigators had earlier stated that they were unable to trace CCTV footage of his last moments at his house on July 19th as cameras at the gate were reinstalled on August 3rd, two weeks after he went missing.
