On August 29, 2019, comedian Njugush sparked controversy with a satirical Instagram post hinting at a presidential bid in 2022.

The post read, 'I offer my candidature for presidency in 2022! This is not the time for politicking. That’s why I’m urging you all to come out in large numbers as you waste your time and resources to vote me in, I promise you, you’ll always regret,'

However, when reached out by Word, Njugush clarified that the post was meant to be satirical and that he has no intention of running for president.

He expressed concerns about the current state of politics, stating that politicians are only in it for personal gain and that he would not want to join them in misusing public resources.

One of Njugush’s biggest lessons this year was learning to identify his true friends, who he claims have not always reciprocated his generosity.
