On August 29, 2019, a homeless man from Kakamega was enumerated while in a lorry he dwells in, in Embu after being evicted from his house by his former landlord over outstanding rent.

According to reports, Mohamed Muhati, a 57-year-old man, has been living in a lorry for years after his former landlord kicked him out of the house he was renting in Dallas estate in Embu town.

Muhati's ordeal began when he fell sick and was unable to pay his rent, leading to his eviction by the landlord.

Enumerators who visited the lorry, which had been taken to a garage for repair, were shocked to find Muhati living in the vehicle with a mattress, two coffee tables, and a few personal effects.

Despite his financial struggles, Muhati has found temporary shelter in the lorry, courtesy of the garage owner, James Odhiambo, who has allowed him to stay.

Muhati's family is based in Kakamega, but he has chosen to remain in Embu due to financial limitations.

He is appealing for help from well-wishers to get back on his feet.
