Published on August 29, 2019, the assurance was given by Harry Kimtai, the Livestock and Fisheries Principal Secretary, during a tour to assess the progress of the census in Iten.

Kimtai spoke to the indigenous community living in Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, and West Pokot counties, addressing concerns that they might be left out in the national population census.

The move comes in the wake of complaints by members of the indigenous Sengwer community living in parts of Embobut Forest.
