Naivas chairman Simon Gashwe Mukuha, who died on Monday evening after suffering a heart attack, will be laid to rest on Thursday at Lang'ata cemetery.

According to his brother, David Kimani Mukuha, who is also the managing director of Naivas Supermarkets, the funeral will take place on Thursday.

Mr. Mukuha had been admitted to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi mid-last week after suffering a stroke.

Naivas directors include Managing Director David Kimani, who owns a 25 percent stake, Linet Wairimu with 15 percent, Grace Wambui with 15 percent, and their late father who owned 20 percent.

Naivas founder Peter Kago, the father of the late Simon Gashwe Mukuha, passed away on May 6, 2010, and was buried at Nakuru North Public Cemetery.

His death in 2010 sparked a family feud over ownership of the retail giant, with some members, including Newton Kagira, seeking to claim part ownership.
