Published on August 28, 2019, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has postponed its nominations for the Kibra by-election due to a lack of security personnel.
The nominations, initially set for August 31, have been rescheduled for September 7. This decision was made due to the ongoing national census, which has left a shortage of security personnel available for the exercise.
According to the party, the National Elections Board has postponed the party nominations exercise in Kibra Constituency due to the lack of provision of security personnel for the exercise occasioned by the ongoing national census.
Majority of police officers across the country are engaged in enhancing security in the ongoing census that is expected to be concluded on August 31.
Eleven aspirants have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest for the ODM ticket to vie for the Kibra Parliamentary seat, which fell vacant after the death of Ken Okoth.
The Kibra by-elections are set to be held on November 7, 2019.
