On August 28, 2019, Sendy, an online logistics firm, marked a significant milestone in its expansion by launching freight services in Kenya.

Following an eight-month pilot, Sendy has officially extended its services to include freight, aiming to solve long haul logistics problems.

During the pilot, Sendy made over 1,500 deliveries of 18 to 30 tonnes of cargo, demonstrating its capabilities in matching large transporters with businesses moving their cargo from the port of Mombasa and the Inland Container Depot.

Sendy's CEO, Meshak Alloys, stated, 'We have officially extended freight services to our platform to help solve long haul logistics problems.'

Several prominent firms, including Unilever, Bidco, Maersk, and Multiple Solutions, have already begun using Sendy's freight services.

Additionally, Sendy has partnered with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers to allow firms to use its platform.

The cost of using Sendy's freight services varies depending on the distance and weight of the cargo, with prices ranging from Sh1,500 for up to five kilometres to Sh7,600 for deliveries by a 10-tonne truck for up to 20 kilometres.
