On August 28, 2019, a miracle unfolded at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) as medics discharged Baby Jeremy, a premature baby born on April 1, 2019, at 24 weeks and weighing a mere 400 grams.
After five months of incubation and care, Baby Jeremy now weighs a healthy 3.5 kilograms, a testament to the dedication and expertise of the medical team at KNH.
KNH Chief Executive Dr. Evanson Kamuri expressed confidence in the hospital's services, stating, "He will be discharged today…I can assure Kenyans that services offered to the new born are up-to-date."
Dr. Miriam Karanja, a neonatologist, shared the challenges Baby Jeremy faced, including difficulty breathing after birth and a diagnosis of rickets due to a lack of calcium during pregnancy.
However, thanks to the tireless efforts of the medical team, Baby Jeremy has made a remarkable recovery and was even counted during the census.
To celebrate this milestone, medics at KNH held a cake-cutting ceremony, marking a joyous occasion for the eagerly awaiting parents.
