On April 1, Catherine Joy Nkune gave birth to her premature baby, Jeremy Tubula, at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. The baby weighed a mere 400 grammes due to pregnancy complications.
Jeremy's doctor had put his mother on bed rest for two weeks to prevent further complications. However, the baby's weight gain was a welcome relief for the family.
By Wednesday, Jeremy had gained enough weight to be discharged from the hospital, weighing 3.5 kilogrammes. This is a significant milestone for the baby and his family.
Jeremy's case is not an isolated one at Kenyatta National Hospital. According to CEO Evans Kamuri, Jeremy is the second prematurely born baby to weigh 400 grammes at the hospital since its inception.
Jeremy's discharge from the hospital is a testament to the excellent care he received from the medical staff at Kenyatta National Hospital.
