Published on August 28, 2019, a dispute between Gor Mahia management and former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech has intensified.

Oliech dismissed a letter terminating his contract, citing an injury he has been nursing on his fractured hand since the end of last season.

"These stories you have been hearing are all lies and the truth of the matter is that I have never recovered from the injury on my hand that fractured, the bandage was just removed two weeks ago," Oliech said in an interview with Nation Sport.

He claimed the team manager had only called him twice and could have texted him if he didn't pick up, and that he had trained with Gor Mahia twice after returning from Burundi.

Oliech blamed the club for not being patient with him as he recovers from his injury and accused them of using the termination as a means to victimise him for advocating for players' rights.

Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda, however, insisted that the decision to terminate Oliech's contract was due to gross misconduct and failed attempts to reach him.

"We are done with him and any action he takes is on his own hands. As an employer, you can't be my player after terminating your contract," Aduda said.
