Former Transport and Licensing Board Chairman Hassan ole Kamwaro, a 71-year-old man, has died after a long battle with throat cancer.

According to reports, Kamwaro was receiving treatment in the U.S. at the time of his death.

Before his passing, Kamwaro made headlines in 2013 when he married Eunice Sesian, a woman 46 years his junior, in a Maasai cultural ceremony.

At the time, Kamwaro, who was 69 years old, told reporters that in the Maasai culture, family background was more important than age.

He also revealed that his children, some of whom were older than Sesian, had contributed Ksh. 200,000 to the wedding and now referred to her as 'mum'.

Kamwaro held a doctorate degree from United Graduate College in the U.S. and had previously served as the Wiper party deputy chairman in 2015.

During a past interview with the Daily Nation, Kamwaro shared his personal struggles, including the death of his first wife in a road accident and the departure of his second wife while he was seeking treatment in the U.S.
