As the national census exercise enters its fourth day, a significant milestone has been achieved in Kirinyaga County. By Tuesday, a remarkable 63% of residents had already been enumerated, marking a notable progress in the countrywide exercise.

According to Cabinet Administrative Secretary for Public Works and Youth Rachael Shebesh, who was supervising the exercise in Mwea town, the smooth execution of the census is attributed to the political goodwill and enhanced security in the county. She emphasized that no challenges have been reported so far in Kirinyaga, allowing the census officers to work efficiently around the clock to ensure all residents are counted by August 31st.

Shebesh, who is overseeing the census in three counties, including Kirinyaga, Nyeri, and Nairobi, expressed confidence that all Kenyans will be counted by the end of the month. She appealed to the residents to participate in the exercise, which will play a crucial role in planning and resource allocation in the country.

"I urge every resident of Kirinyaga County to ensure they are enumerated before the end of the time set by the government for the census exercise," Shebesh said.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Jim Njoka commended the collaboration between national government officials, the county government, and the enumerators, which has ensured the successful execution of the census. He also thanked the residents for providing accurate information, making the exercise as smooth as possible.
